ITF HQ Scotland hosted an IIC Instructors course that consisted of teaching components to help Black Belts in the practical and theoretical aspects of planning, delivering and reviewing individual Tae Kwon-Do sessions. The foundation level of knowledge and skills developed through this course enabled instructors to create safe, fun and engaging coaching sessions through building, developing and extending a series of linked practices.

The skills covered on the IIC ranged from Health & Safety, Instructors requirements, developing lesson plans, warm-up, coaching children right through to executives and not forgetting inclusion. What was achieved through practical planning and instructing groups was good communication skills, customer care, motivation, observation, self and group evaluation and the all-important team work.

Instructing is: “a process that enables learning and development to occur and thus performance to improve. To be a successful an Instructor requires a knowledge and understanding of process as well as the variety of styles, skills and techniques that are appropriate to the context in which the Instruction takes place”.
